Glendon Hartley
A West Indian artist and bartender based in Washington, DC. In 2006 while bartending his way through college, he began educating himself on all things spirit-related, eventually making it into a career. Hartley travels the world with a focus on Brandy education and currently holds multiple spirit certifications. In 2016 Hartley co-founded Service Bar, a lively neighborhood cocktail hub featuring a heavy rotation of local, seasonal & sustainable ingredients, currently on the North America's 50 Best Bars list three years running. Most recently named “best cocktail program” in DC by the National Restaurant Association and nominated for ‘Outstanding Bar” by the James Beard Foundation.
In 2022, Hartley set out to open Causa & Bar Amazonia - 2 dierent Peruvian concepts under one roof. Each focuses on sustainable food and drink while representing the Coast, the Andes and the Amazon of Peru. Bar Amazonia boasts the largest restaurant Pisco selection in the world and seeks to enlighten the American public on the national spirit of Peru. Both Causa & Amazonia have been nominated for numerous awards, including finalist for “Best New Restaurant” with the James Beard Foundation, and Regional Finalist for “Best New Cocktail Bar” and “Best Restaurant Bar” with the Tales Of the Cocktail Foundation. Causa was most recently awarded 1 Michelin Star and ranked #1 in Washingtonian’s Guide of the 100 Very Best Restaurants in DC.
